Hey Connie,

Let's talk about your widget for the library. I have gotten behind in this work, but I hope to catch up this week.

I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who used my name and first initial for my blog!
It seemed so *sensible* although the other blog names are creative.

I teach high school mathematics particularly geometry. Wow, that would be nice having students go looking for extra credit. Maybe my honors geometry would but my midlevel kids would not and they are the ones that might need it. I do have my students go online to do projects and activities but at this time I use my portal page and webquest to do that. There are so many tools out there on the web I guess we have to try them all then find the one that works for us.

I'm not a teacher, but possible uses could be:

1.) Posting fun activities or brain teasers or extra credit assignments and encourage students to work on them collaboratively...even just having the blog as an extension of the classroom for that purpose might be extremely helpful, especially to struggling students.

2.) A faculty blog might be a great place for y'all to post interesting new things in your field, or new experiments in your classroom, or frustrations about a situation where you could get some ideas generated with more people, since you likely don't see a lot of teachers on a regular basis.

3.) A straight math blog might be a fun place for you to showcase new things that you are working on, or that other mathematicians are working on, as a kind of content aggregator of all things math.

That's all I have off the top.

What level math do you teach? I could see a blog as a good place to share your "real world" math experiences, how what you do in the classroom is useful outside of the classroom -
